Well, it's done and ready for students! Take a tour of my classroom below. It's full of neon and bright classroom decor! Feel free to pin the vertical picture at the bottom to save for later.
The front of my classroom:
The numbers are from Amy Lemons. I lined my whiteboard with colored duct tape and then a border.
You can see in this picture that I took the legs off of my small group table so that the kiddos can sit on the floor around the table. It saves room and lots of noise, not to mention helps with the "wiggles". You can get a great view of the neon and bright classroom decor from this angle - I love it!
My small group area in front of the ActivBoard. My teacher desk is pushed up against the wall...who sits down at their desk anyway?! :)
My CAFE and Daily 5 Board were created to complement my Bright Classroom Decor pack. My cute neon baskets from Dollar Tree. Beanbags are from Walmart.
Technology and Classroom Library:
At the technology table we have 3 iPads and 5 iPod Touch devices. I keep them in the little drawers on the table. Headphones are in the green box. The Acceptable Use Policy Posters can be found for FREE at Soaring Through Second Grade.
This is my Read to Self area. I love the chairs (Target) and rug (Dollar General).
This is my Work on Writing table. The I Can Write A... bulletin board can be found {here} from A Cupcake for the Teacher. It's a wonderful resource! The Writer's Eye Posters can be found for FREE {here} from Sailing Through First Grade.
The back of my room and door to my next-door neighbor. My attendance check-in is on the black cabinet door and my behavior clip chart is on the side of the filing cabinet. These can both be found in my Leadership Kit HERE.
A view of the rest of my computers - we are lucky to have 5!
The Back of my Room:
Fun Seating, Storage, and Classroom Ideas:
My crate seats that I made last year - love them and they're sturdy.
My table baskets. I love these baskets from Dollar Tree. Inside, I have two plastic, disposable containers to house crayons and two plastic cups for markers and pencils.
My Brownie Points board, my whisper phones, pick me cup and Brain Breaks from 3rd Grade Thoughts.
The Teacher Corner:
Once again, my teacher area with the Whole Brain Teaching posters on the board found {HERE} for free from First Grade Fever.
Whew! There you have it! My 2nd Grade Classroom for 2012-2013 full of neon and bright classroom decor! Thanks for stopping by and feel free to pin any pictures you like. A big thanks to all those bloggers that I linked to who inspired me to create my room using so much FREE, awesome material! If you see something of yours that isn't linked to you, please comment below so that I can give you credit.
Feel free to use the Pinterest image below to save this post for later.

ReplyDeleteHi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI’m your newest follower! I am in an OCD-dream seeing how everything is all matchy-matchy! I've been teaching since 1992, so making all of my tubs match would be WAY too expensive. :) I am a Newbie Blogger, so I appreciate all of the sharing of advice and ideas. Come on over for a visit sometime. Thanks!
Corinna :)

I LOVE the colors - especially the way the pink pops on your bulletin boards. I have too many red things to pull it off, so I have had to stick with a lot of primary colors. Thank you for sharing your classroom pics :)

Holy mother of all things BRIGHT!! I am sooo in love with your classroom. Can I have it? Or atleast be one of your students?? You are sooo organized and I love the bright bins and crates from the Dollar Tree. I actually saw them there myself but since I am just beginning my journey in school, I figured it would be a little early to start buying them and having to find storage for them. (Now I feel like I NEED them anyway).
ReplyDeleteIm hosting my very first linky party... it's A Teacher's style linky. I would love for you to join the party!!

Simply 2nd Resources
I love all the little areas you have set up. I'm going to be homeschooling this year (pre-k and 7th grade) and while we were shopping for supplies yesterday at Target, I fell in LOVE with these dorm bean-bag chairs. I thought they'd be awesome for the reading corner set up by the bookshelf, but I wondered if it would just bring on the wiggles. (Our spinny chair had to go for this reason!) Have you used bean bag chairs in previous years? Do they work well? Because as soon as I got home without them, I was second-guessing myself! lol
ReplyDeleteSorry -- home *without* them.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks fabulous! Thanks for the links to the wonderful free items.
ReplyDeleteI moved my desk to the exact same spot your's is. I agree who really sits at their desk but who is always needs something off of their desk? ME! Have a great 1st day! In Mississippi we are on day 3! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome job! My desks are arranged just like yours. I'll be using WBT and 7 Habits this year and am excited to see how it works. =)

OOps! Lots of typos in that comment....sorry!
ReplyDeleteI am sooo jealous of your room. I teach in one of the oldest schools in the county, and in two years we will be moving into a new school. I would love to be this organized. I have tried to pull in some color. I painted the inside of my classroom door in primary colors, and I have a long primary green 2shelf bookshelf similar to your brown one at the front of your room. Can I send you pictures of my room and get some suggestions on what I could do? I am a color fanatic, and do not mind spending money on my classroom. However, I don't think my room is as big as yours. PLease help.My email address is sjamesses@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWow! I am just now seeing this post and I want to re-organize my classroom right.this.second!
ReplyDeleteYou must have put so much work into that! It looks incredible! I love all of it. Thanks for adding the links to all of the freebies!

Where did you get your selfs that go under your white boards? I love your room!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! If you taught at my school we would love hanging out in each other's rooms because we definitely have the same decor style!
ReplyDelete@Miss Luedke, the shelves were already in my classroom. I just painted them black, along with all the other furniture in my classroom (filing cabinets and big storage cabinets).
ReplyDelete@Celizamas, Thanks! I love my bright room :)
I love your classroom!! They let you paint your furniture black? I wish we could do that in our county!!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me where you got your "I pick" posters. I've searched TPT! I have the CAFE circles but don't remember where they came from either! Dbs0786@gmail.com
ReplyDelete@Mrs. Brown, I didn't create the 7 Habits posters. I found them through Pinterest and they were created by the owner of this blog: http://simplysweetteaching.blogspot.com. Her name is Beth Banco. Hope you find them! :)
ReplyDeleteso happy I found your blog!!! I'm a first year teacher and rather than doing a theme in my classroom I chose to go with neon colors (pink, blue, green!)... I love, love the border you use... can you let me know the brand and name so I can try to find it...been searching with no luck... Your room is my inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the black shelves to fit under your white board?
ReplyDeleteHi, Jamie! Just found your blog! Love it! I also teach 2nd grade. I read what you wrote about the Daily 5 and I just ordered the book. Thank you! Your bulletin board is great! Any chance of you putting the letters and signs for Cafe, Daily 5, IPICK on tpt? Or if it's something you got elsewhere could you let me know? Thanks so much! keira0504@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome... thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove your room. I am always looking for new wonderful ideas for my room so I can spice it up a bit! Prepping for the new year is one of my favorite things to do. A different year brings new ideas. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour room is so cute and looks very organized. This year, I have moved to 2nd grade from kindergarten. I am so excited but scared at the same time. I was wanting to know what he baskets on the desk were. They have two cups and two containers with lids. What are those for? Also, how does C.A.F.E. work?
ReplyDeleteYour Classroom looks fantastic! Love the colors and the organiztion. Where is all your storage? How many students do you have? you have such a nice big room! Have a great first day with your kiddos!
ReplyDeleteI like your duct tape idea. Does it ruin the borders? DO you also use it to keep faux bulletins on the walls?
ReplyDeleteI love your classroom and more so your rotation. I'm actually doing the same thing for my Math (8 rotations - 4 groups) and same way M/W & T/Th. My question to you is where and how do you display your rotations for it to not be confusing for the children?
ReplyDeleteYour classroom looks fantastic! We have a "Brownie Pan" in my classroom too! It's so simple, and yet such a powerful motivator! I'm curious about where you got the bookshelves that are underneath your ActivBoard. I'm desperate for some shelving underneath my SmartBoard, but I can't seem to find any that are the right height!
ReplyDeleteTheresa @ True Life I'm a Teacher!
I love your daily 5 and cafe signs! Where did you get them?!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela! I made them to match my classroom decor set on TPT. I can no longer share them though because the terms are copyrighted. Some others were asked to take theirs down, so I will no longer be sharing them. So sorry!
